im having problems with my webcam,

wen i install it and go on cam to sum1 it just turns out all black
and when i try to fix the brightness and contrast and all that it jus changes colour to grey. anybody got any suggestions to fix it
You have installed fully? So have got all the appropriate drivers?
Umm, if not, have you tried re-starting the PC before using?
